7 VoIP Blogs to Watch (Sept)
Voice over IP (VoIP) is an ever changing field, and keeping up is no easy matter. These seven blogs not only keep up but they usually stay right on the cutting edge with insightful observations and insights. Several of them also cover a wider range of issues.
This is the second in our series of “blogs to watch” and we’re always on the lookout for the cream of the crop. Let us know if you have a favorite blog.
1) GigaOm
High profile technology site launched in 06 by veteran tech journalist Om Malik (Forbes.com, Business 2.0). Strong analysis of subjects and forward thinking. Covers range of subjects from the social web to wireless to VoIP. The site claims to go beyond journalism to “build communities, uniting innovators and their partners through online media, events, and research.”
Recent topics include: Wireless as a “broadband stimulus winner?”, Twitter’s future, and Facebook’s iPhone problem.
2. Communications and Technology Blog (Rich Tehrani)
Veteran telecom journalist Rich Tehrani covers the The latest news in the IP communications, telecom, VoIP, call center and CRM space, with plenty of opinion & analysis.
Recent articles include: Smart Grid and SIP opportunities; Nortel’s mobility apps for nurses; preview of ITExpo West interviews.
Another TMC blog, and a good one: Tom Keating: CTO, VP, Founder TMC Labs uses his 14 yrs telecom experience and 28 yrs “programming, tinkering with & breaking computers” to cover VoIP issues in lively interesting fashion: Recent topics include: SIP Print VoIP Appliance Review; a Skype Headset Review; and Microsoft’s releasing two new UC training tools.
Contributors cover every type of VoIP service with multiple posts per day covering VoIP, IP telephony, IP PBX, open-source VoIP and more.
Recent topics include: “U.S., Canada Pay More For Wireless, OECD Reports.” Apple Tablet Continue To Get Real And Come Closer.
5. No Jitter:
No Jitter, according to its websites, “provides daily blogging and analysis of the enterprise IP-telephony, unified communications and converged networking world. We also strive to be the leading online community where this industry can exchange, debate and incubate ideas and best practices on a daily basis.”
No Jitter is produced by the same people produce VoiceCon (www.voicecon.com) events, the largest conference/exhibition events
in the US devoted exclusively to enterprise communications. Recent topics include: what’s shaping Unified Communications; and an analysis of Google Voice, and death of the IP phone.
6. Fierce VoIP
More a website than a blog, but we had to mention it because it does a superb job covering VoIP and other telecom issues on a daily basis. Newsy, hard hitting, straight forward approach. Recent topics include the rush by SMB’s and enterprises to VoIP; perspectives on Unified Communications and high definition voice-ready for prime time?
7. VoIP Watch
VoIP Watch bills itself as, “All about Voice Over IP, Internet Based Communications and Video,” and it does cover a lot of ground. Blogger/owner Andy Abramson, whose day job is serving as the CEO of a California based marketing agency, channels his passion for technology into personable, daily blog postings.
Recent postings include: Maxroam in hostile takeover; Junction Networks’ OnSip device review program winning rave reviews; Windows Mobile voice apps.

This is a great read. There is so much going on with voip now. The technology has really taken off. We have been using voip for b2b telemarketing and lead generation 3 years now. It keeps getting better and better.
