Customers Win with Sprint/Ericsson Partnership
Yesterday, Sprint announced that it will be partnering with Ericsson for the management of our wireless and wireline networks. This is a great partnership that strengthens our commitment to our wireline, iDEN and CDMA services. It’s a win–win situation for Sprint and our customers, further enhancing our ability to deliver the high levels of service our customers have come to expect.
When our CEO and President Dan Hesse joined Sprint, he promised that Sprint will disrupt the wireless industry by introducing a series of “nukes” to differentiate us from competitors in the crowded U.S wireless market. Our historic partnership with Ericsson entitled Network Advantage is just the latest example of Sprint’s innovation. Ericsson is a top provider of network equipment and services worldwide; they are synonymous with outstanding network support. Ericsson has more than 15 years’ experience in the field with hundreds of carrier contracts. Ericsson today manages networks that together serve more than 275 million subscribers worldwide.
This is why I am so excited about Sprint’s decision:
Sprint will primarily focus on the business of serving customers: This move will clearly satisfy our customers – we can more intensely dedicate resources to provide a superior customer experience and more swiftly launch innovative services, cutting-edge applications and popular new devices.
Customers will see no change in their interactions with Sprint: The relationships our customers enjoy with Sales, Care and Network remain intact, and Sprint retains full control of the customer experience, customer technical support and services review. Ericsson will perform the underlying network provisioning - the 24×7 monitoring and routine maintenance that makes Sprint’s network the country’s most dependable - in a seamless fashion. The estimated 6,000 employees who will move from Sprint to Ericsson will be the ones managing the network.
An evolving global practice to ensure network excellence: Telecommunications operators across the world are partnering with operators like Ericsson to deliver flawless network services. Sprint will boldly lead this trend in the United States.
Ericsson’s core competency - network excellence: Our customers, and Sprint, will immediately benefit from Ericsson’s economies of scale and unparalleled network operations experience. Their global reach enables them to invest in the key process systems and work flow that will clearly help our customers and even our company.
Our commitment to wireline, iDEN and CDMA services remains intact: Sprint still owns its wireline and wireless (iDEN and CDMA) networks and will continue to set the networks’ overall strategic direction and investment decisions. Partnering with the worldwide leader in network management and being the first carrier to introduce this established best-practice to the U.S. market delivers on our network promise of reliability and our commitment to a superior customer experience.
