What if hotspots became harder to find?

As this Wall Street Journal story pointed out recently, some coffee shops and  restaurants that once welcomed laptop-toting “customers” to use their hot spots are becoming less hospitable. Maybe it wasn’t a big deal earlier when these visitors lingered for hours over a cup of coffee while they worked on their computers. But the recession changed all that, and now store owners are fretting that they’re hoarding tables that could be used for the revenue-producing lunch crowd.

This makes Sprint’s announcement of a new make-your-own-hotspot solution extremely timely. (more…)

Seven 2009 Business Telecom Predictions

In my role as Vice President of Corporate Strategy for Sprint, I obviously need to pay attention to the shifting winds in the industry.  I thought it would be helpful to share with you seven shifts that I think will be particularly meaningful to business telecom managers.

  1. VoIP is dead. Long live AoIP! The VoIP is dead topic has been well covered here (and here and here) already. I’m guessing if you’ve been paying attention to Seamless Enterprise, you also understand the “Long live AoIP!” aspects of this prediction. I won’t belabor the point. (more…)
