Denise Russell Fleming accepts award from Alan Burkitt-Gray, editor of Global Telecoms Business

We are going to have to make room in the Sprint corporate trophy case! We have won an award that recognizes and salutes how Sprint enables unified communications. The good people at Global Telecoms Business magazine honored Sprint with their annual Innovation Award on Tuesday evening.

We’ve always felt like we’ve had an award-winning approach, and now we can say it, with third party recognition to back us up.

At a special dinner Tuesday in London, where Global Telecoms Business is based, Sprint received the award in the category of Fixed Network Infrastructure. The official news announcement is here, but more important than the award itself is the fact that an objective and influential telecom publication with a worldwide perspective understands the impact of our approach.

That approach centers around collaboration with Cisco, IBM and Microsoft to deliver end-to-end solutions that make UC possible, with an especially strong emphasis on “unified.” As I’ve emphasized before, it’s the “unified” that matters most in unified communications. All organizations communicate in that scenario. It requires a special blend of technologies and capabilities to become truly unified.

The collaboration with Cisco, IBM, and Microsoft is one part of that, and then when you combine that with the Sprint Global MPLS network, SIP trunking, and mobile integration, you’ve got a winner. An AWARD winner!
